What do Excel and DragonCookies have to do with each other?
Recently, the DragonCookie recipe/process had gone sideways … and I had a spreadsheet that wasn’t doing what it was supposed to be doing. For both, it was necessary to:
- Clarify the objective
- Step back
- Do some research
- Ask a lot of questions
- Resist the urge for random actions
- Embrace being slow, methodical and patient … and still screwing up
Sometimes Much of the time it can be a joy to do random things, be driven by intuition, and believe that things will eventually work out. Hell, that’s how I got started with Excel and baking cookies. Bottom line:
Know when to play. Know when to slow down and focus.
This reminds me of a Reader article about a skateboarding Physics professor. Check it out.
